Foundations for Early Learning

Growing Independence in Early Learning

Foundations for Early Learning is a small-group experience designed for children who are ready to deepen their independence, group participation, communication, and foundational early learning skills.

Each group is intentionally limited to three children, allowing for close guidance, meaningful connection, and a calm environment where children can build confidence, practice new skills, and participate with growing independence.

Sessions follow a predictable rhythm that includes guided play, early literacy and numeracy activities, stories, snack, outdoor play, and opportunities to strengthen communication, cooperation, problem-solving, and classroom participation.

Semester Structure

How the Program Works

Foundations for Early Learning includes 32 sessions across a 16-week semester, organized into four sequential learning series. Children attend twice weekly in a consistent small group, building independence, group participation, and early learning skills. Rolling admission is available when space permits, with tuition prorated for children joining after the semester begins.

Series 1: Building the Foundation

Learning the group rhythm, building peer connections, strengthening communication, and participating with growing independence

Series 2: Growing Through Participation

Practicing cooperation and listening, using flexible thinking, solving problems together, and taking greater responsibility within the group

Series 3: Expanding Early Learning

Expanding early literacy, numeracy, language, and inquiry through purposeful play and hands-on experiences

Series 4: Bridge to Integrated Learning

Bringing together familiar routines, peer connection, and early learning concepts as children prepare for more integrated learning experiences

Program Readiness

This program is designed primarily for children ages 4–5 who have developed some comfort being away from a parent/caregiver and are ready for more consistent group learning. Children age 3 may also be considered based on developmental readiness and appropriate group fit.

Children do not need to separate perfectly, but should generally be able to transition with brief reassurance and participate with gentle guidance throughout the morning.

All children must be able to use the restroom independently, including recognizing when they need to go, telling an adult, using the toilet, and managing clothing and wiping.
