Intro to Preschool

A Gentle Bridge Into Group Learning

Intro to Preschool is a small-group, drop-off experience designed to help young children build comfort with early school routines, peer interaction, communication, and beginning independence.

Each group is intentionally limited to three children, allowing for close guidance, meaningful connection, and a calm environment where children can be gently supported as they learn and participate.

Sessions follow a predictable rhythm that includes guided play, early learning activities, stories, snack, outdoor play, and opportunities to practice sharing, listening, cooperation, and classroom participation.

Series Structure

How the Series Works

Intro to Preschool is offered as a four-part sequence, with 16 sessions total. Each four-week series is designed to build gently on the last, giving children more time to develop comfort, routine, participation, and confidence. Families may enroll in a single four-week series as space allows.

Series 1: Social Foundation

Comfort away from a parent/caregiver, peer awareness, and early group routines

Series 2: Guided Participation

Turn-taking, cooperative play, listening, and participation in a group rhythm

Series 3: Early Learning Exploration

Early literacy, numeracy, language, and problem-solving experiences through play

Series 4: Bridge to Integrated Learning

Bringing together familiar routines, peer connection, and early learning concepts as children prepare for more integrated learning experiences

Schedule & Tuition

Schedule

Intro to Preschool is a 16-session program offered as four sequential series. Each series includes four weekly sessions and is designed to build upon the one before it.

Children attend one session per week in a consistent small-group cohort, such as a Monday, Wednesday, or Friday group.

Session time

9:00 AM - 11:30 AM

Specific start dates are listed within each enrollment offering.

Tuition

$325 per child for each four-session series

Families may enroll and pay for one four-session series at a time.

The full program includes:

  • Four 4-session series
  • One session per week
  • 16 sessions total (4 sessions per series x 4 series)
  • $1,300 total tuition per child for all four series

Although the program is designed for children to progress through all four series, families may enroll in an individual series when space is available.

More than one child from the same household may apply, including siblings. Because children may have different needs, readiness levels, and group dynamics, a separate application is required for each participating child.

Enrollment is limited to three children per cohort.

Scholarship Assistance

Scholarship assistance may be available to eligible Pennsylvania families through The Foundation for Enhancing Communities (TFEC). Families must apply directly to TFEC, and scholarship eligibility and award decisions are determined by the foundation.

TFEC Scholarship Information

Program Readiness

This program is designed for children ages 3–5 who are beginning to build comfort away from a parent/caregiver. Children do not need to separate perfectly, but they should be ready to practice short separations with gentle support.

Children must be able to use the restroom independently, meaning they can recognize when they need to go, tell an adult, use the toilet, and manage clothing and wiping with little or no help.

Enrollment Process

1. Click the “Apply to WholeSchool” button on this page to submit an application.

2. After the application is submitted, families participate in a brief consultation to discuss the child’s needs, program structure, availability, and fit.

3. Enrollment confirmation is provided when space is available and the program appears to be a good mutual fit.

WholeSchool is intentionally small and relationship-centered. Because enrollment is guided by program fit, group dynamics, availability, and the three-child model, submission of an application does not guarantee placement.

Optional Classroom Visit

Following the Zoom consultation, families who are considering enrollment may request a brief, scheduled visit to see the WholeSchool classroom and outdoor learning space.

Because WholeSchool operates within a private home, classroom visits are available by appointment only and are scheduled after the initial consultation. Drop-in visits and visits before the consultation are not available.
